The Paper Shades

The Paper Shades was formed in Summer 2009 by long term college friends Sarah Dollar and Jon Rixon. The Winter that followed saw the duo write and perform their own material at open mic nights. Their debut, self titled four track EP was released in July 2010 gaining air play on BBC Introducing.
The Paper Shades have also gone on to support artists such as Abigail Washburn and Jonny Kearney and Lucy Farrell at recent shows.

Their sound is defined by intricate guitar work, haunting vocal harmonies and catchy melodies.

For Folks Sake had this to say about the EP:
"The Paper Shades have created an appetising, polished EP..........smooth vocal harmonies with shimmering acoustic guitars. It shows off some excellent artistry, matching fine arrangements with meaningful lyrics" www.forfolkssake.com

Candythief first emerged in association with Fence records, and now return to present a third collection of songs. Drawing on alternative, folk, rock and indie influences, the songs are melody-driven and less theatrical than in previous releases, more transparently lyrical and direct, but still coloured by the unusual song structures typical of Candythief arrangements.

Edited highlights include sessions on 6 music, radio play from previous releases on BBC radio 1,BBC radio 2, BBC Scotland, a bunch of internet radios; having tunes on film soundtracks, one of which won a prize at Cannes.
